POLARIZED LENSES

Optical Performance

Polarized lenses feature specialized light-filtering properties that block horizontally polarized light (e.g., glare from water, roads, or snow). They maintain a light transmittance of around 30%-50% (varies by tint) while enhancing visual contrast and reducing eye strain. Their refractive index typically ranges from 1.50 to 1.67, with Abbe numbers matching their base material, ensuring clear, undistorted vision.

Processing Performance

They require advanced manufacturing—usually laminating a polarizing film between two lens layers. The process has higher costs than regular lenses but is mature for mass production. They can be tinted in various colors (gray, brown, etc.) and coated with anti-scratch or anti-reflective layers, though the polarizing film limits extreme curvature adjustments for certain lens designs.
